CAI invites collaborative research proposals for developing AI applications in varied fields from faculty members at FLAME University. The centre explicitly encourages inter-disciplinary proposals from faculty members who are from disciplines other than computer science. This call is not restricted to specific themes, and is meant to enable work on a wide range of topics in line with the expansive breadth of domains that the FLAME faculty body has expertise in. However, we specifically encourage proposals that deal with Indian languages, music, art or other aspects of India's cultural context. Other data-driven projects based on economic, demographic or other public datasets from India will also be prioritised. The centre will allocate manpower (such as software developers and interns) to work on the selected projects along with providing the necessary computational resources required for the project. 1. To conduct inter-disciplinary projects related to development of AI applications in varied fields, with emphasis on India-centric work
2. To support faculty in developing AI-based applications in fields such as humanities, languages, social science and other fields not directly related to computer science
3. To leverage the unique blend of expertise within the faculty body at FLAME University to develop applications that will be of benefit to the society at large.
1. Computational resources (cloud resources, physical computing, API subscriptions)
2. Manpower such as software developers (usually on a shared basis) and interns. We expect that project staff will be allotted work which can result in co-authorship in any publications resulting from the project.
3. Collaborations with members of the centre with experience in AI development.
We will prioritize proposals that deal with Indian languages, music, art or other aspects of India's cultural context. Other data-driven projects based on economic, demographic or other public datasets from India will also be prioritized. The centre will allocate manpower (such as software developers and interns) to work on the selected projects along with providing the necessary computational resources required for the project. We will accept proposals with a proposed project duration of 6 months to 2 years.
Please fill the Google form here to submit a proposal. Faculty members are welcome to submit multiple proposals if they wish to do so. Please feel free to contact Kaushik Gopalan if you wish to brainstorm in person prior to submitting a proposal.
